2017 was an interesting year for me and most definitely for Blackgirlsblush.com. The blog following grew, I gained loads of new content creator friends and along the way I also found great bloggers around the globe.
I did a lot of new things and worked outside of my comfort zone. I went to a number of blogging events, like#BlogConLDN and #BeautyCon where I met one of my biggest inspirations, Patricia Bright. I attended a lot of events and shows like TEDx , The True Cost of Expensive Sh** and Dear Home Office. As always I found time to find new beauty products too and made some big decisions as well like changing my career and starting a new job. I even decided to become a vegan, much to my family’s dismay and I ended up injuring myself along the way. Safe to say the year came with several challenges, but I went through it and came out swinging.
I published 25 posts, a lot less than what I did last year, which I wasn’t too pleased about. My injury gave me a lot of time for self-reflection and really allowed me to refocus myself on the things that truly mattered in my life. I am fiercely independent and being unable to get myself around and do what I wanted got me down a lot. Thankfully, I had my wonderful friends and family to keep me going. I will share more with you really soon about my recovery.
For now, we are officially in 2018! 3 days in to be exact. What are my plans for the year? Well, I have always been a firm believer in the age-old saying, “work hard in silence and let your success be your noise”. Don’t worry I have a list of goals I have personally set myself! I have mini goals like being healthier, drinking more water and posting regularly but the bigger ones I will share with you soon.
But in the spirit of sharing, I will let you in on the standards I want to set for myself in this new year. The rest will be me reporting my achievements or experiences along the journey to.
So here it is:
- Complete it – It’s easy to set a goal and so easy to begin it. What they don’t tell you is how monotonous it can become. So everything I begin this year, I plan on completing.
- Be consistent – Remain committed to the cause regardless of the barriers at hand. Show up and participate even when you are tired, sleepy or late. Consistency always pays off.
- Just do it – it really doesn’t matter about the what ifs or I can’t because! The sooner you do it, the earlier you will achieve your goal.
What I can promise all my lovely readers is this, you will get more posts, more adventures and more varied and engaging content in 2018 and I hope to take you along my journey. So it’s not a New Year New Me situation, just a #newyearbetterme project.
So those are my personal goals for the new year, how about you? What are your grand plans for 2018? I’d really love to hear from you, so please fill me in by leaving a comment down below.
Until my next post…
