I’ve been trying to have a go at #livingmybestlife and took the opportunity to venture out to experience the wonder that is BeautyCon a few weekends ago. I had never been, but revelled at the opportunity of trying something new.
Going alone was never going to be an option for me, so I was glad I had an awesome companion, Lissa from TheLissaWay to help me along the way. She also did a review of the event as part of her Blogmas countdown, so you should definitely check it out.
We had an early start on Saturday and made our way to the Olympia National building where the event was being held. There were hoards of beauty fanatics waiting in the queues, but I was grateful to not be in it for too long as I was fast tracked!
There were queues for everything with a number of big name brands like Superdrug, Revolution, Nyx and Pixi . My new personal favourite was MDMflow who I only discovered recently . They were creating lip colours on their stall and this was quite phenomenal to see the creation process. The lady on the stall was the founder of MDMflow and cosmetic scientist, Florence @flowphenom herself creating her signature lipsticks.
In addition to the discounted Beauty products we also got to attend the talks that were scheduled through the day with panels and fire talks from content creators and tv personalities. Alesha Dixon presented the event throughout the day and brought on the scheduled fire side talks and panels.
I had the opportunity to attend the Tech for Good panel which was an insightful talk about the ability to use social media as a positive platform. This was moderated by Patricia Bright alongside other panelists like Samantha Maria or Beautycrush, Ollie Locke, Poppy Jamie & Em Ford. Being able to hear their perspective on social media and how they see use it for good was really refreshing.
After the talkshow we ventured around to see the rest of the beauty stalls and even got to purchase some items from Pixi and The Masque Bar which I am quite excited to try. I’ll be sharing my Beautycon Haul with you very soon and testing out the products over the next couple of weeks, so you should definitely keep your eyes peeled for that.
My highlight of the Beautycon event was being able to meet and speak to Patricia Bright. I have been watching her vlogs and product reviews for several years and she has always been such a positive role model and in many ways, an inspiration for me. Meeting her left me a little star struck, but she was really lovely and took time to speak to me and take pictures with everyone.
Lissa and I also got to meet Samantha Maria too who was really kind enough to stop and take a picture with us even though she was about to leave. Sammie’s talk on Tech for Good really inspired me as she talked about body image and her battles in overcoming that.
All in all my Beautycon experience was EPIC. Did you go to Beautycon this year? What were your highlights at the event? Please let me know in the comments sectionI’d really love to hear your experience too.
Until my next post…
