Day 12: Plum Parum pum..

Happy Sunday!!!

Hope you have all had a joyous Sunday spent quality time enjoying your last few hours of freedom before the beginning of a new working week.

Last week was pretty intense so I’ve had a very chilled out day to rest. I went to church and then afterwards I spent my time looking at furnishings and getting a feel of what I want my blog space to look like. I’m always encouraged and revived when starting something new and trying out new ideas. I hope to share with you my new design ideas soon, but enough of my ramblings as there are more pertinent issues to be dealt with.

My Day 12 is titled Plum parum pum.. because I was challenged to share my makeup of the day. I have a tendency to gravitate towards neutral colours like browns, coppers, taupes, creams and shimmery variations of these colours, but I thought I’d try something different.

A few months ago, my sister got me some Sleek eyeshadow palettes and I found one that had some colours that fit in well with the dress I wanted to wear to church today. So anyhoo, without further ado, here is my makeup of the day….

Sleep Sundays…

I don’t really sleep in, it’s rare for me and as per usual I didn’t sleep much if at all last night… I was extra tired, but having a cup of tea or coffee in the morning, does help me going…

I really woke up like this… and this is how I created the look.

After my normal cleanse, tone and moisturise routine, I then prime my face. Today I used MAC’s Prep and Prime to start things off. Having done that, I then gave my brows some definition before moving on to my face. Here I used the MUA’s Eyebrow pencil in Brunette to fill them out.

To really bring out the fleekyness, I then add concealer to accentuate it and clean up the edges for a sharper eyebrow outline. I use MAC’s Pro Longwear Concealer in NW40 for this and applied it used E.L.F’s Angled liner brush. Once that was all complete, I then applied my Matchmaster foundation in the shade 8.5.

Next came my highlight and contour… I normally do my eyes first and then my face, but today I did everything backwards for some reason… I digress.

To contour and highlight I use liquid products because I have dry skin and it also lasts longer too. I used my MAC’s Pro Longwear Concealers, NW40 to highlight and NW50 to contour. Once done, I set these using powders Collection 2000’s translucent powder for my highlight and MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Darkest Deep for my contour.

I let the this bake for a while and then concentrated on my eyes. This way, any fallout would go on to the powder rather than on my actual face. I started off by using Urban Decay’s Primer Potion to prevent my eyeshadow from creasing and longevity too.

For my eyes, I used the Sleek i-Divine Palette in Vintage Romance.

I used 2 colours from this palette, the Shimmery Pink as a lid colour (Bottom row, second one in from left) and the Deep Purple as a crease colour (Bottom row, second on in from the right).

I then lined my waterline with Avon’s Glimmerstick Eye liner in black and added a winged eyeliner using NYC’s Liquid Eyeliner, topping off with some mascara to give my lashes some volume and length.

I added a few final touches to my eyes, by adding more concealer to lift my brow and applied MAC’s Rice Paper just under my arch to accentuate it more.

Moving to my lips, I lined my lips with MAC’s Chestnut lipliner and then applied MAC’s Diva Matte lipstick. It seemed too bright and a complete contrast to my purple eye look so I used my black eyeliner to give this more definition. I always tweak my lip colour a lot, so it ends up being a combination of sorts. Depending on how you feel, this can be worn with a nude or a deep plum lip as I have done here. I would recommend MAC’s Touch if you are of a deeper skin tone like me.

I finished everything off by adding Sleek’s blush in Demerera and a highlighter from their contour kit in Dark

So here’s the finished look;

All in all I’ve had a restful day and I spent the remainder cooking, cleaning and going for a walk too. The weather was majestic today, maybe not so much in the morning, but later on most definitely.

This is a full face makeup look and not something I’d wear everday.
